Colman Domingo’s first starring role on TV
Scenario
Media maven Muncie Daniels must fight for his innocence and his life after stumbling upon a murder deep in the Poconos. Boy, did I want to like this. Colman did, but it’s a waste of time.
And poor Colman is just out of place here
Some really questionable and predictable writing choices and, I’m sorry to say, just not great acting across the board. That’s not the kind of leading man he should be. He reminded me of when Tyler Perry tried to play Alex Cross.
Just not believable
As the show dragged on and, scene after scene, two people inexplicably whispered plot points to each other (why not SHOW them to us?), it was really hard to stay awake. Watching Colman run was painful. It’s always fun for me when non-athletic actors get the opportunity to play action-packed roles.
Not everyone becomes an action star
(He wasn’t great with action in Fear the Walking Dead, and he’s not here either.) He takes me out all the time and it reeks of a vanity project. His mouth hangs open in every scene when he’s “thinking” (a sign to me that he’s uncomfortable and worried about sounding “straight”). Go ahead. Skip this.
